Genome-wide association study of ear tip barrenness in waxy maize

چکیده
Ear tip-barrenness (ETB), which results from aborted kernels or infertile florets at the ear tip, is an undesirable factor affecting yield and quality of waxy maize. To uncover genetic basis ETB, a genome-wide association study (GWAS) was conducted using genotype with 27,354 SNPs phenotype three environments. Five that distributed on chromosomes 1, 3 6, were identified to be significantly associated ETB based threshold false discovery rate (FDR) 0.05. Among these significant loci, clustered together colocalized genomic regions previously reported. The average length decreased almost linearly inbred lines containing no favorable alleles across loci (1.75 cm) those one (1.18 cm), two (0.94 (0.65 alleles. Moreover, important genes, Zm00001d030028, Zm00001d041510 Zm00001d038676 predicted for QTLs, respectively. These promote understanding will useful breeding maize varieties high-quality high-yield.

Unveiling the genetic loci for a panicle developmental trait using genome-wide association study in rice
Panicle size has a high correlation with grain yield in rice. There is a bottleneck to identify the additional quantitative trait loci (QTL) for panicle size due to the conventional traits used for QTL mapping. To identify more genetic loci for panicle size, a panicle developmental trait (LNTB, the length from panicle neck-knot to the first primary branch in the rachis) related to panicle size ...
متن کاملA Genome-Wide Association Study Reveals Genes Associated with Fusarium Ear Rot Resistance in a Maize Core Diversity Panel
Fusarium ear rot is a common disease of maize that affects food and feed quality globally. Resistance to the disease is highly quantitative, and maize breeders have difficulty incorporating polygenic resistance alleles from unadapted donor sources into elite breeding populations without having a negative impact on agronomic performance. Identification of specific allele variants contributing to...
متن کاملGenome-Wide Association Study and QTL Mapping Reveal Genomic Loci Associated with Fusarium Ear Rot Resistance in Tropical Maize Germplasm
Fusarium ear rot (FER) incited by Fusarium verticillioides is a major disease of maize that reduces grain quality globally. Host resistance is the most suitable strategy for managing the disease. We report the results of genome-wide association study (GWAS) to detect alleles associated with increased resistance to FER in a set of 818 tropical maize inbred lines evaluated in three environments. ...

Genome-Wide Association Study of Seedling Characteristics in Bread Wheat Cultivars Under Normal and Salt Stress Conditions
In order to identify loci controlling seedling morpho-physiologic characteristics in 88 bread wheat cultivars, a greenhouse experiment based on simple alpha lattice was conducted under both normal and 120 mM (12 ds/m) salt stress condition of the Faculty of Agriculture, Urmia University in 2020-2021 cropping season. Chlorophyll a, b and carotenoid content, proline, plant fresh and dry weight, p...
